Whalan, Charles
Former convict who was sentenced to seven years' transportation to New South Wales on 5 July 1787 for poaching trout. Charles Whalan became a sergeant in the New South Wales Corps, was the orderly sergeant to Governors, Philip Gidley King and Lachlan Macquarie, and commanded the Light Horse Guard.
