Greenhill, Thomas

Passenger on the Edward Lombe who was killed when the ship was wrecked in Sydney Harbour in 1834. He had a brother in Sydney. There is some confusion as to his identity. He was named in all reports as Thomas Greenhill, and a man named Thomas Tress Greenhill is described in a legal document dated November 1834 (so prior to news of the wreck reaching the UK) that is held in the East Sussex Record Office in England, as being a mate on the Edward Lombe en route to New South Wales.  However, a death notice in the Scottish newspaper, the Fife Herald, on 5 March 1835, identifies Peter Greenhill, the eldest son of the late Mr Greenhill, of Redcastle Mains, Ross Shire, Scotland, as being lost in the wreck.
